The Lodge and Surroundings

Canadian Holidays Mountain (CMH) has 11 lodges located in this area, the Monashee lodge is the ugliest. People come here to ski, not to sightsee or hang-out. Mostly "production-skiing". The lodge is located at Mica Creek, a small logging village which was built when the BC Hydro dam was under construction.

Background and Description:

This was the worst snow-year for the Monashees since CMH began. With on only 4-5 feet of snow coverage, the drops were harsh, the trees seemed steep, and the rocks often exposed. It was steep, but not as deep as usual. Despite the thin snowpack, our guides managed to find several sections of excellent powder, even if it was only "knee-deep".

Days 2-3 Soard's Creek Drainage

	The warm weather brought morning fog, but we found a hole to fly through.	Sunny skies and warm weather greeted us above the fog.

Since the steep trees were trecherous, we ended up skiing more alpine and glacier slopes than normal for the Monashees. Here are some more snapshots of the alpine skiing.
